This figure of eight shaped walk takes in woodland, fields and a stroll up the river bank. This area was a great inspiration to 18th century poets and it’s easy to see why with the stunning views. Likely to be boggy – particularly if it’s been raining! Toilets in the car park at start and finish – we’ll also pass through here about an hour into the walk.
Much of this walk crosses in and out if open farmland. It's therefore necessary to ensure dogs are under appropriate control - AT ALL TIMES!

Advice for drivers
Drivers should allow for between 2 hrs 30 mins & 3 hours from Liverpool to reach the start point at Silecroft Car Park. This walk takes us right across the borough of Sefton from West to East, from coast to countryside crossing the rich meadows of the River Alt on the way. In general the route is flat and we finish in Maghull where food, drink and toilet facilities are widely available.
This walk follows the Isle of Anglesey coastal path as it follows the spectacular sea cliffs. Another highlight is the diverse birdlife. The trail climbs and drops gradually a number of times as it follows the route. We then swing east in land just short of Treaddur bay and wind our way back to the walk start. This is a spectacular and rewarding walk though is quite long. Aside from the obvious hazard of the cliff top there are few hazards however this walk is very exposed so please bring appropriate clothing to protect from strong winds. Sturdy boots also strongly advisable boots as the paths can be quite rocky in places.

Crafnant takes its name from ‘craf’ an old welsh word for garlic, and ‘nant’ a stream or valley. Reached from the nearby village of Trefriw the lake used to be a reservoir, but no longer performs this purpose. It does however make a good walk, and for good measure we pass over to Llyn Geirionydd its neighbour and then back possibly with a stop at one of the pubs in the village to finish
